It’s on sale: Brooks Brothers chambray Irish linen sport shirts — The series of pre-Father’s Day sales continues with 30% off all sport shirts today at Brooks Brothers.

Unfortunately, Brooks Brothers’s sport shirts are too short in the sleeves for me, but for those of you with normal proportions this is a pretty good deal. The shirts have the Brooks Brothers “polo” collar, which is probably my favorite off-the-rack button-down collar out there — yet another reason for me to be jealous of those of you who can fit them.

Linen shirts are fantastic for the summer, as I’ve said many times, because they just breathe so damned well in the heat. I just picked up a linen shirt from a local shirtmaker in San Francisco (yes, a review is forthcoming) and tried it out this past weekend when the heat hit the low 80s. I was really glad I’d planned ahead for the summer and gotten several made and plan to wear them on my vacation to wine country this weekend.

What color: blue or white? I have a stubborn dedication toward blue shirts, but I cannot deny that white shirts in the summer do a great job of offsetting one’s tanned complexion, especially when framed by a navy jacket.

If you live in a climate that gets hot in the summer, do yourself a favor and pony up for a linen shirt or two. Definitely worth it. Also this model is pretty much the same from what I can tell (same price, different colors available).

Oh hey, BB is doing their summer clearance sale. These shirts and other select items are now 30% off if you buy one, 50% off if you buy two (that’s buy one, get one free if you can’t do math good). Not quite Jos. A. Bank level of free clothing items but still a screamin’ deal.

Also, check out this little blogready gem.

Another option for linen shirting this summer. Much cheaper than Brooks Brothers, Lands’ End tailored fit is a really solid choice. I have one in white and I really like it. They’re on sale now for $44.99 in a few colors/patterns, most sizes still available.

As you may have noticed, I’m a pretty big fan of raglan-sleeved, crewneck sweatshirts, especially in heather gray. It seems a bit of a challenge to get a good quality, well-fitting version of something like this without spending a lot more than you’d ever dream of spending on a sweatshirt. Via a follower, I recently found out about American Giant, a San Fransisco company that is making tshirts and sweats in the U.S. at very competitive prices: $25-30 tshirts and $59 sweatshirts (more for buttons/zippers/hoods).
Use my referral link and get 40% off your first purchase and I’ll get a $10 credit. Woo! Everyone wins. Even without the promo discount, I think you’d be very hard-pressed to find product like this that is made in the US at such a low price. Crazy, really.

Not sure how it fits but if you’re a “medium”, maybe it’s worth checking out this pink gingham, “classic fit” Dockers x Miller’s Oath shirt that’s on sale at Bloomingdale’s for $60.

I’ve posted these RL hikers at least two times previously when they’ve gone on sale and this is the lowest I’ve seen them go. $50 if you’re a size 12, 14, or 15.

If you don’t have that Mister Freedom money yet.

If you’re a Large (42-44” chest) or XL (46-48” chest) and looking for a great fitting oxford, Rugby RL has their classic solid shirts in blue, white, and pink on sale for $29.99 right now. Their only negative is the pre-distressing along the edges of the collar, placket, and cuffs. They didn’t used to make them like that and I really wish they would leave that shit alone. If you can get past that, they are pretty great and very good buy at $30 per. Slimmer than Brooks Bros ESF with a collar much preferable to Brooks’ Clifford (although not as substantial as the classic Polo collar).

I posted these PRL hikers a while back when they went on sale. They are again on sale…for under $75 shipped. Use promo codes “BZR29362” or “BZR24415” to knock off the cost of shipping.

You can get a big-ass, 12”x70”, Brooks Brothers wool striped scarf (made in Italy) from Nordstrom right now for under $50. Free standard shipping or local pickup.
