I had to go to the office to grab something and the M turned out to be this “holiday train”. it’s loud in an old train way and the inside is all red and green and the ads are from the 50s or 60s when it was only sensible to put a few colors in a print ad. all of the people who stumbled upon the train unintentionally must have been about as excited to ride it as those who sought it out, because everyone on the train was pretty excited.
I read my book and got off at the usual stop, but enjoyed the ride especially much
The MTA holiday train is slightly less festive than the CTA holiday train.
Can’t stop listening.
Seth of TheMidwestlye and I were both quoted in today’s Red Eye about the trend towards men dressing up and look who made the cover! Thanks to the folks over at the Red Eye for using my pic and thanks to Ryan Plett for snapping the pic of the paper.
The article is online here. The funny thing is that I was also contacted to contribute to this article but when the reporter found out that I did not have a “better half”, I was dropped as a source.
This photo, just two months after it opened, shows the Belmont station on what is now the O’Hare Branch of the Blue Line, with two Douglas-Milwaukee “B” trains berthed in the station. The station opened on February 1, 1970 as part of a new subway to connect the Logan Square ‘L’ (opened in 1895) to the new expressway median line in the Kennedy, terminating at Jefferson Park. The line would later be further extended to Chicago-O’Hare International Airport (ORD). (via CTA Flickr)
The L station I use most often turned 42 today.
Magic 1/Chad - Cutty Come Back
Hilariously brilliant song sung to the tune of Player’s 1977 hit, “Baby Come Back” lamenting the loss of starting QB Jay Cutler to a broken thumb in the Bears win against the Chargers three weeks ago.
