Do you (or any of your readers) have experience with the fit on Schott pea coats? To my understanding most true naval pea coats have a pretty fitted cut. At 6'1" 195ish and built a bit broader do I need to consider their slim fit pea coat or will the standard 740n do just fine? Happy new year and thanks!

Although I have no direct experience, my first instinct would be to go with the standard fit. You want some room to layer underneath and you definitely don’t have a super slim build that might demand the slimmer cut. Plus, the original fit is made with a heavier wool (32oz.) and comes in real sizes (40, 42, 44, etc.) as compared to the slim version, which is only 24oz. and is sized S, M, L, etc.
Anyone who owns a Schott peacoat, please chime in with any input.
Happy new year to you as well.

I own the 24oz coat (the 1 with fake sizes), and I like this pea coat a lot. The sizes aren’t as defined, so you may get an XL that fits the chest, but hangs off your shoulders a bit, or vice versa. Pull the trigger, and you’ll be happy you did so.

I wear their slim peacoat w/ leather trim in sz.42 as they advise you go up 2 sizes. Warm enough to get through the mild-ish Portland winters, but doesn’t allow for much layering. I like how the cut is sharper than the traditional surplus peacoat.
